Joanette Ngwenya, a 17 year old student at Dominican Convent High School in Bulawayo, will be representing Zimbabwe in a global science competition to be held in Texas in May.
Ngwenya developed a computer program that translates sign language into English using coding and impressed judges at the Zimbabwe Science Fair in February.
The school held an aerobathon to raise funds for her trip and is seeking additional sponsorship for airfares, visa application, accommodation, and general upkeep while in the US.
The total needed is approximately US$5,000.
