CCC President, Nelson Chamisa, has today met with Binga MP, Prince Dubeko Sibanda, who is embroiled in a vicious fight with popular Zimbabwean journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono.
Dubeko Sibanda, a long time ally of Chamisa, shared a picture of himself with Chamisa at his offices, with the caption: The future is Hopeful and Yellow.
Dubeko Sibanda told Gambakwe Media that Chamisa did not bring up the issue of his public fight with Chin’ono during the meeting, “because there is no fight”.
Differences over strategy
The CCC has been plunged into a massive internal fight, with the older MPs on one side and Chin’ono and the younger supporters on the other side.
Chamisa and Chin’ono differed sharply this week after the young leader sided with the losing Kenyan Presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, immediately after the Kenyan elections.
Chamisa congratulated Odinga, something that Chin’ono immediately deemed un-strategic.
Writing on his popular social media platforms, Chin’ono said:
Members of the Zimbabwean opposition shouldn’t openly show support for Raila or Ruto in this Kenyan election, it is not politically smart.
If you openly back Raila and he loses, what will you do when you need Kenya’s support and Ruto is now President or vice-versa?
The election results are still to be announced officially.
We the ordinary citizens can comment, but I think it is unwise for the opposition leadership to do so before result is out.
ZANUPF did so in Zambia last year and their horse left and Joseph Kalimbwe has never given them peace.
Reflect!!
Many CCC supporters felt that Chin’ono was publicly attacking Chamisa’s position and started attacking him and have been attacking him since.
Chamisa is under increasing pressure to adopt a new approach, if he is to win the 2023 Presidency. This has increased tension between him and former allies like Prof Jonathan Moyo, Apostle Talent Chiwenga, Jacob Ngarivhume and Chin’ono, who feel that his current approach is ineffective.
