The ANC has angrily summoned ZANU-PF South Africa over a statement issued by the Party’s South Africa branch yesterday.

Ministers Bheki Cele and Aaron Motsoaledi said ZANU-PF South ‘ statement is insensitive and want the party to explain.

The ZANU-PF South Africa statement was issued by spokesman, Kennedy Mandaza yesterday. This follows the stoning and burning of Nyathi, who was hiding with his wife, before he was set alight by a mob.

In the statement, Mandaza appealed to the South African government to ensure that there is a respect to the rule of law.

Cele and Motsoaledi say ZANU-PF downplayed the criminal activities by Zimbabweans and murder of 11 South Africans by four Zimbabweans since December.

Speaking in Diepsloot yesterday, Motsoaledi said locals believe that Zimbabweans are responsible for violent crimes, including the door to door shooting dead of 7 South Africans this past weekend. 14 South Africans are currently hospitalised following the shootings.

Another Minister, Naledi Pandor, appealed to Zimbabwe to address the political, economic and social issues in their country, so that their citizens do not need to cross into South Africa to earn a living.
