The mining town of Kwekwe has been placed under a two weeks lockdown after the Covid-19 variant from India was discovered in the city.
A 7pm to 6am Curfew has also been been implemented. The government say the new measures in the area are needed.
However, civic society and the public health officials say government should have imposed the travel restrictions on people coming from India long back.
Zimbabwe has recorded over 38,000 Coronavirus infections. The country’s death toll is over 1500 So far, it has vaccinated over 600,000 people per.
