WATCH Live as Gambakwe Media looks at the developing coronavirus crisis in Zimbabwe and the likelihood of the 2023 harmonized elections being canceled;

Key Points of the discussion

1. Hard Lockdown has been announced, this has far reaching political implications.  We are entering a period of lockdown that will last at least 2 years.

2. The planned by elections are likely to be postpones indefinitely.

3. Campaigning no longer possible under Lockdown measures.

4. MDC Alliance activities severely affected,  no grassroots structures

5. Curfew and presence of the military will continue in rural communities.

It’s clear that another approach has to be found to deal with the postponement of the elections in 2023.

– There are various proposals on the table that have been proposed by the churches to postpone elections for 7 years and this model will have to be considered.

– There is a need for the opposition to work closely together and develop a common position,  else they will lose out.

– Politics must now go into the background,  as ordinary people will suffer the most under the current economic conditions.
