Suspended MDC-T Spokesman, Senator Khaliphani Phugeni, has been remanded out of custody to the 7th of December.
Phugeni appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Sibongile Msipa Marondedze on Monday where he is facing r_ape charges.
The mother of the minor girl said she attempted to solve the matter politically because Lovemore Moyo was her President in the United Movement For Devolution (UMD)and Abednico Bhebhe was her cousin.
She denied that she made the police report at the same time Phugeni was about to be sworn in as a Senator as a way of tarnishing his image. She said Phugeni snubbed meetings that had been set up by the family to discuss the issue.
The woman said she only made the report at that time because that is when her daughter opened up to her about the r_ape.
The crime was allegedly committed between June and November 2018 at Emhlangeni and at Magwegwe Suburbs in Bulawayo.
The mother of the minor girl said after the r_ape, the girl became problematic and started sleeping out and dating older men.
Phugeni is represented by his lawyer, Kholwani Ngwenya.
