The Star Newspaper reports that Cyril Ramaphosa ‘spokeswoman, Khusela Diko has refused to be interviewed by the Special Investigations Unit over the PPE Scandal that involves her husband, Thandisizwe Diko.
Khusela is said to have presented the SIU with a lawyer’ s letter to block them from interviewing her.
The Sunday Independent first reported that Diko’ s company which was formed in January 2019 had been awarded an R125 Million contract but had no track record in supplying PPEs.

The contract was awarded to the disputed Amabaca king, Madzikane II (Thandisizwe Diko) by Health MEC, Bandile Masuku’s department.

The families of the two men are close friends and their wives were bridesmaids at each other’s weddings.

Royal Baca was among beneficiaries of R2, 2 Billion PPEs contracts awarded by Masuku’s departments within 5 days of the announcement of the 26 March lockdown.
Royal Baca is alleged to have overpriced one million waste bags, 500 000 dust masks, sanitizers and surgical masks.
Masuku reportedly told the SIU that he was not involved in awarding the tenders, although staff in his department have written affidavits to say he did.
