South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa has today announced that South Africa has now passed the peak of the Coronavirus Infections.
He has therefore decided to ease the lockdown to level 2 regulations with precautions such as wearing of masks, washing of hands, avoiding unnecessary travel and gatherings and maintaining social distances.
The following Are now Allowed
- All Inter-provincial travel will be allowed
- Restuarants, Bars will be allowed to open
- Tobacco and Alcohol will be Allowed ( Up to 10PM)
- Family and social visits will be allowed
Not Allowed
- International Travel is not allowed
- Curfew remains between 10pm and 4am
The National State of Disaster is extended till 15 September 2020

– It has been 5 months since SA declared a state of disaster
– SA is making progress in the tight against COVID-19
– Number or infections are doing down
– Recovery rate is at 80%
– Cumulative number of cases over 500 000
– Virus appears to have peaked
– fewer people are presenting with symptoms
– Fewer people are presenting at hospitals
– Number of hospitalized is down from 10 000 to 4000
– Many of the field hospitals are empty
– Total number of dead is just R11 000
– The National lockdown was to prevent an uncontrollable surge
– Most health facilities are able to deal with the surge
