Zimbabwe is facing a serious malaria outbreak at the same time trying to combat the spread of Covid-19 creating an additional burden to a fragile health-system.

The current lockdown and movement restrictions are worsening the situation as most drugs are imported.

In the last week of April Zimbabwe recorded 21 deaths and more than a thousand cases.

The health system is failing to respond to the new threat that is affecting the country.

More than 230 deaths and 236 000 cases of malaria have been recorded this year alone.
