The installation of a 1.5m tall, 54km long, rapid construction jersey concrete barrier along the South Africa and Mozambique border is set to resume on Monday.
According to the KZN transport department, a minimum of 360 stolen cars are taken into Mozambique annually.
SABC reported that setbacks befell the installation of the barriers after an official had been identified as stalling the work.
Disciplinary action will be taken against the individual while work resumes.
The concrete barriers will be installed along 54 km of the border fence from the Indian ocean to Ndumo, as the entire section has been identified as a priority section.
