The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China has noted with concern the differences in the actual bilateral support figures provided by their republic USD136,8 million and the amount presented in the Zimbabwe National budget, US$3, 631,500.
In a statement released by the Embassy, the Zimbabwean government presented inaccurate figures in their budget statement.
“In the mean time, the Embassy has noted that in the statement among Development Partner Support received by the Zimbabwean government through bilateral channels, the figure of bilateral support provided by China to Zimbabwe is USD 3, 631,500.
This is very different from the actual situation on the ground,” revealed the Embassy.
The Embassy said “According to our record, the bilateral support provided to Zimbabwe by China is USD136, 8 million.
Such a figure does not include the other bilateral supports such as the expense of expert assistance, Embassy donations to local vulnerable groups and so on,”said the Embassy.
China added that relevant departments of the Zimbabwean government should make comprehensive assessments on the statistics of bilateral supports and accurately reflect its actual situation when formulating budget statement.
