The Justice, Legal and Parliament Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi defended the Judiciary system which has been accused in two high profile scenarios this week with allegations of being flawed due to political polarisation in the system.

Ziyambi said this after a presentation on the “State of Human Rights Report Zimbabwe 2018” by the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum.

Earlier this week during Trevor Ncube’s interview with the Internationally recognized Human Rights Lawyer Beatrice Mtetwa accused the three stand alone entities, the Judiciary included, of being flawed, dancing to the tune of politicians.

The Human rights report accuses the government of taking limited steps towards implementing justice against the military and police who caused the deaths of six unarmed protesters as impunity became a hindrance.

Violations on human rights issues include arbitrary kilings, government targetted abductions, arbitrary arrests and torture amongst others.

However, Ziyambi denied the allegations in today’s Herald saying both the Judiciary Services Commission and National Prosecuting Authority derive their independence from the constitution.
