Rwandan Businessman Murdered in Malawi
On October 17, 2022, Rwandan businessman Noel Emile Habimana died in what was first called a road accident near Lilongwe. But a Malawi High Court convicted his ex-wife, Gentille Giramata, of planning his murder. Evidence showed poisoning (chlordane) was the real cause, not an accident. His mother testified she saw no injuries on his body. A second convict, Munyagavu Lafiki, got 35 years. Giramata received 40 years. Judge Bruno Kalemba said justice must be served despite the couple’s children growing up without parents.
