Zimbabwe’s Vice President, Constantino Chiwenga, is leading his country’s delegation to the G20 Leaders’ Summit currently taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa (November 22-23, 2025). Chiwenga is representing President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who was invited by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa but had prior commitments. The G20 Leaders’ Summit for 2025 will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on November 22-23, 2025. South Africa holds the rotating G20 presidency for 2025 under the theme “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability”.
Chiwenga has attended the opening of the $100 million tobacco auction floors in Harare, Zimbabwe. This marks the first time that Chiwenga is attending a high level event that was hosted by Mnangagwa.

General Emmanuel Matatu has been appointed the new Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (CDF), effective November 21, 2025, following the retirement of General Philip Valerio Sibanda. This makes him the fourth person to hold the CDF position since Zimbabwe’s independence. Matatu takes over at fourth Zimbabwe CDF. Walter Tapfumaneyi has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed as the new Commander of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA), effective from November 25, 2025.
