PRESS STATEMENT

Court Updates on Ongoing Legal Matters

The MDC wishes to update the public, our members, and all democratic stakeholders on developments in the courts relating to the unlawful occupation of our party Headquarters and the continued persecution of our leadership and staff.

1. Bail Application for Munyaradzi Mwonozora & Others

The State has declined the bail application for Munyaradzi Mwonozora & others, who were arrested while attempting to rescue a female employee who had been unlawfully detained and intimidated by thugs who forcefully occupied our party Headquarters.

We have taken the matter to the High Court to seek justice and secure their release.

2. Application for Spoliation

In our application to restore lawful possession of MRT House following its violent seizure by unruly elements, the presiding Judge postponed the matter to Monday 24 November, 2025, following the defendants’ late filing of opposing papers, an apparent delaying tactic meant to frustrate due process.

President Douglas Mwonozora and his elected leadership remain fully in charge of the Movement for Democratic Change. No amount of thuggery, lawlessness, or political machinations will derail our democratic mandate.

The MDC will continue to defend the people’s cause:

i. No To The 2030 Agenda

ii. We Demand reparations and justice for victims of political violence

iii. We Demand a New Delimitation and Electoral Reforms

We call upon all democratic forces to remain vigilant and united as we continue this struggle for constitutionalism, justice, and the restoration of democratic order in Zimbabwe.
