Mr. Abednego Ncube, a highly respected Bulawayo entrepreneur and the 70-year-old founder and owner of Dial-a-Vision, who passed away on a Tuesday after a long battle with colon cancer.

Mr. Ncube is remembered as a pioneer of indigenous black business ownership in Bulawayo, specifically noted for being among the first black people to own a large shop, Bulawayo Discount Furniture, which inspired many other indigenous businesses. His brother, Witness Ncube, confirmed that Abednego also pioneered one of the first black licensed taxi businesses, Frixi taxis, opening opportunities in the transport sector previously barred to blacks during the Rhodesian era.

Following these ventures, he established Abbies International (Pvt) Ltd, which evolved into the successful Dial-a-Vision Electronics (Pvt) Ltd. He was known for his community support, particularly employing and empowering youth, and for adapting to modern trends by establishing a digital marketing company. He is survived by his wife and six children and was to be buried that Sunday at Lady Stanley Cemetery.
