A Harare man, Moses Ruvheneko, who was arrested for attempting to disarm a soldier guarding the main gate of Zimbabwe House, a protected area.
- Charges: He faces charges of criminal trespass and disorderly conduct in a public place.
- Arrest Details: Ruvheneko allegedly walked along Liberation Legacy Way in Harare (a restricted area opposite Zimbabwe House) and confronted the security guard, shouting “Where is ED? I want to see ED.” before attempting to seize the guard’s SKS rifle.
- Apprehension: A struggle ensued. The guard and another security officer quickly intervened, managing to subdue and apprehend Ruvheneko.
- Injury: Ruvheneko sustained an injury to his left hand after grabbing the bayonet attached to the rifle he was trying to snatch.
- Court Status: He was brought before Magistrate Ms Ruth Moyo and was remanded in custody until November 20 pending a mental health examination requested by the State.
