Gambakwe is reporting on the Seychelles presidential elections held between September 25th and 27th, 2025. The opposition party’s presidential candidate, Patrick Herminie of the United Socialist Party, surprisingly won the first round with 48.8% of the vote, while the incumbent president, Wavel Ramkalawan, received 46.4% of the vote.
As neither candidate secured an outright win, a runoff election is scheduled for October 11th, 2025. Gambakwe notes this as a continuing trend in SADC regions where opposition parties are winning elections, even when incumbent governments have performed well economically. The video also states that the voter roll only has 77,000 people.
