This meeting, convened just days before our 22nd National People’s Conference in Manicaland Province, is a critical assembly for the continued existence and influence of this constituency within our party.
You, as war veterans, represent a strategic and vital group. In your youth, you made the ultimate sacrifice to liberate our motherland. You provide the grounded wisdom, leadership, and guidance that demonstrate the enduring spirit of nationalism, loyalty, and patriotism.
The theme of this 3rd National Assembly is both timely and inspiring, as it allows us to celebrate the courage and loyalty that formed the very backbone of our liberation struggle.
Commitment to National Development
As the ruling ZANU-PF party, we are actively steering projects anchored in our core philosophy: Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo (A country is built by its own people). Projects such as the construction of the Gwayi-Shangani and Kunzvi dams are on course, and the government remains committed to providing them with the necessary support.
The Second Republic is dedicated to your empowerment. As a fellow war veteran, I understand that if we do not do this for ourselves, no one else will.
Call to Action
I call upon the War Veterans League to fully implement its duties and responsibilities. We must remain alert and raise our collective consciousness to resolve the challenges facing our revolutionary movement.
I acknowledge the remarkable strides the league has made in its ongoing mobilization efforts across the country. We must continue this work, ensuring that more and more people join our party, ZANU-PF.
I urge you to strengthen your collaboration with the Ministry of War Veterans Affairs and other ministries and departments to secure the support you need. As you return to your communities, let us all work harder to win the hearts and minds of the people.
