SCAM ALERT: PROLIFERATION OF FAKE SOCIAL MEDIA PROFILES PURPORTING TO BE THE GOVERNOR, DR. J. MUSHAYAVANHU

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) would like to alert the public of a proliferation of fake social media profiles fraudulently posing as the Governor Dr. John Mushayavanhu.
Be advised that the Governor does not have any social media accounts and when he does, these will be verified.
While RBZ has reported these fake accounts on various social media platforms, the public is urged to be vigilant as these accounts are designed to appear authentic, often using stolen images to create a false sense of legitimacy.
These scams can take many forms, including but not limited to fake prize and lottery wins that create a false sense of urgency, phishing attacks aimed at stealing personal and financial information, and fraudulent pleas for money.
The public is advised to be cautious of profiles claiming to be the Governor, as they are illegitimate.
