On September 17, 2025, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa will launch the memoirs of Professor Simbi Veke Mubako in Harare. The book, titled “Zimbabwe at 45: The Struggle for Sovereign Autonomy and Prosperity,” details Professor Mubako’s life and service to Zimbabwe and Africa over the last 50 years.
Key Highlights of the Event
The official launch will take place at Heritage Village, Liberation City in Harare. The memoirs are published by the Institute of African Knowledge (INSTAK), a pan-African think tank focused on preserving African history.
About the Author
Professor Mubako is a distinguished jurist, diplomat, and intellectual who played a critical role in Zimbabwe’s history. He was one of the key framers of the Lancaster House Constitution that led to Zimbabwe’s independence in 1980 and served as the country’s first Minister of Justice. His book provides a forthright account of Zimbabwe’s journey, from the early days of independence to the current Second Republic.
The memoirs also discuss challenges like the dissident problems, the land question, and the issue of succession.
