Controversial preacher Apostle Talent Chiwenga has weighed in on the debate surrounding Baba Harare’s return to Jiti, saying the genre itself is not sinful but part of Zimbabwean culture and entertainment.

Chiwenga stressed that Jiti is not against God, describing it as a traditional art form meant to uplift and entertain people. However, he pointed out that Baba Harare’s stagecraft has sometimes raised concerns.

“The only problem with Baba Harare is not Jiti itself, but his dances,” Chiwenga said. “Some of them are inappropriate, sexual in nature, and not part of Jiti culture. Those are his own inventions.”

The remarks come after Baba Harare publicly clarified that he remains a Christian but will continue pursuing Jiti music as his professional career. His decision has sparked widespread debate in both religious and entertainment circles.
