Baba Harare’s brief foray into gospel music has come under scrutiny, with Bishop Nyamakanga openly questioning his sincerity.

The bishop claimed Baba Harare never truly had a divine calling but simply proclaimed himself as one who had, hoping to profit from the gospel industry.

“Makazvidana pakuzvidana kwenyu mukapfunga muchaita mari. We can’t use the church for our personal gain,” Bishop Nyamakanga said, suggesting the singer was motivated by financial prospects rather than ministry.

Critics have also weighed in, arguing that Baba Harare mistakenly believed his popularity in Jiti music would translate into the same recognition and pay in gospel.

“He thought as his name was big it would continue even in gospel, but he only made a name for himself in Jiti,” one commentator remarked.

The revelations come shortly after Baba Harare made a U-turn back to Jiti, citing struggles in the gospel industry and the need for survival.
