Socialite and businesswoman Pokello Nare has come under fire following the launch of her new wine brand, with critics claiming she copied South African media star Bonang Matheba’s champagne playbook.
The comparisons erupted online after some users pointed out that Bonang pioneered the luxury-celebrity alcohol trend years ago.
“Bonang did the same thing with her champagne, guess they copied the concept from there,” one user said.
Others argued that Pokello was targeting the “ghetto baddie” youth market as influencers for her high-end product a strategy some said could actually work.

But not everyone was convinced. Critics dismissed the wine launch as a staged front to clean money, questioning whether the business would genuinely thrive in Zimbabwe’s strained economy.
