Job Sikhala has revealed that his family narrowly escaped tragedy after his house was allegedly bombed with dynamites in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Writing from South Africa, where he is attending a book launch, Sikhala said the attack occurred around 1am, leaving his children shaken as explosives were discovered at the scene.

“I am just waking up to see tens of missed calls and messages that my house was bombed last night around 1am,” Sikhala wrote. “My children are advising me that members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police Homicide Unit are at my house as I speak, waiting for the military bomb disposal team to remove the dynamites that were used to attack my house.”

At the time of the incident, Sikhala’s wife was away in the family’s village attending a memorial, while Sikhala himself was outside the country. Only his children  Job Jnr, Ramaloka, Melody, Joshua, and Fidel were at home.

Calling the attack an act of cowardice and terrorism, Sikhala urged Zimbabweans to condemn the incident, vowing that “whoever did it will pay a dear price.”
