Businessman and philanthropist Wicknel Chivhayo has announced the purchase of 10 brand-new luxury buses for the Johanne Masowe Chishanu Apostolic Church, at a total cost of nearly US$1.95 million.

Chivhayo shared the news on his social media platforms this Friday, describing the gesture as his “small way of contributing” towards easing the burden of transporting church members to and from places of worship, particularly ahead of the Musangano Wegore annual gathering scheduled for next week.

Each bus, purchased at US$195,000, bears the image of Mutumwa Baba Johanne, the church’s spiritual founder. According to Chivhayo, the donation is meant to support the church’s growth and strengthen its logistical capacity for members across the country.

In his statement, Chivhayo emphasized that the buses are strictly for church programs and authorized passengers, warning that they are “not for hire, resale, or personal use.”

The 10 buses will be distributed on Sunday morning at the church’s Gwanzura branch in Highfield, with the following branches set to receive them:

Coca Cola – 1 bus

Domboshava (Chiroodza, Nyakudya & Templekadhai) – 3 buses

Chiweshe Chinhevere – 1 bus

Warren Park – 1 bus

Rashanu Dande – 1 bus

Negomo Rushanga – 1 bus

Highfields Gwanzura – 1 bus

Chitungwiza Velvet – 1 bus

Chivhayo, who has previously made other high-value donations, pledged to add another 10 buses by December 2025, and a further 10 buses by April 2026, saying he viewed the contribution as both an act of faith and a “spiritual obligation.”

The Johanne Masowe Chishanu Apostolic Church is one of Zimbabwe’s largest indigenous religious movements, with more than 3 million members worldwide and a history dating back to 1931.
