Former Norton legislator Temba Mliswa has come under fire following his recent interview with broadcaster Blessing Mhlanga, with critics accusing him of pushing propaganda on behalf of businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei.
In sharp reaction, Mliswa was alleged to be continuing the role he played alongside Dexter Nduna in shutting down Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee when it had summoned Tagwirei for questioning.
Critics further claimed that Mliswa’s stance is influenced by personal interests, suggesting that his housing arrangements may be tied to the controversial businessman.
The remarks also revisited past incidents, including Mliswa’s defense of Patrick Chinamasa when the former Finance Minister was accused of abusing his position to justify Tagwirei’s purported co-option into ZANU-PF’s Central Committee. At the time, Mliswa reportedly described Chinamasa as a “legal guru.”
However, the same Mliswa has been accused of inconsistency after opposing President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s alleged bid to extend his stay in office to 2030 a move Chinamasa had addressed during the ZANU-PF Bulawayo conference, where he explained that such an extension would require two national referendums.

Observers have suggested that Mliswa “would do himself good” by revisiting Chinamasa’s interpretation of the law at the conference, rather than advancing narratives seen as favorable to Tagwirei.
