Veteran journalist Hopewell Chin’ono has once again found himself at the center of ridicule after suggesting that Ngwere Mudiki, an 8-year-old whose plight touched many hearts, needs a “job” instead of charity.
Chin’ono, known for his constant opposition stance, sparked outrage with his statement, which many say is detached from reality and lacks common sense.
Critics were quick to point out that child labor is both illegal and immoral, raising questions about why a respected journalist would propose such a notion.
“Imagine this foolishness,” one comment read. “So Hopewell is saying a kid aged 8 years needs a job? Is he really aware of labor laws? According to his reasoning, building a decent house for Ngwere and paying for school fees is not empowerment?”
