Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi has issued a stern warning to administrators of WhatsApp and other social media groups, cautioning them against allowing their platforms to circulate false or unverified information.

In a video shared by The Herald Online, Minister Ziyambi said group administrators could face legal consequences, including possible imprisonment, if they fail to curb the spread of misinformation within their communities.

He stressed that admins should exercise oversight by demanding proof or evidence whenever members share sensitive claims or reports that are not verified.

“Group administrators have a responsibility to ensure that their platforms are not abused to mislead the public,” Ziyambi emphasized.

The warning comes amid growing concern over the role of social media in fueling misinformation and public unrest.
