In a post directed to tafimhaka, opposition legislator Joana Mamombe responded to the line: “In Zim politics, grief is private. Survival is public.”

“It hits hard. It’s deep!” Mamombe wrote. “Pain and trauma are carried silently, off-camera… In public, it’s all RESILIENCE showing up, speaking out, navigating hostile terrain as if untouched.”

Her remarks come after she has faced waves of public criticism in recent weeks.

Mamombe’s words shed light on the personal cost of navigating Zimbabwe’s political landscape, where, she suggests, leaders must mask their struggles to maintain strength in the public eye.
