UFC fighter Themba Gorimbo has reignited political controversy after sharing an old 2020 Facebook post in which he slammed President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government, calling it “evil” and equating it to apartheid.
In the resurfaced statement, Israel declared “The government of Zimbabwe has no respect for people at all… Our brothers and sisters are being abducted, brutalized, and arrested for exercising their democratic rights. Apartheid and Mnangagwa’s government are the same.”
The repost came alongside a sarcastic jab at preacher Jay Israel, who recently threatened that Gorimbo would “never set foot” in Zimbabwe or South Africa if he continued to criticise the President.
“He once said this but then Cars from Wicknell happened and now he wants one since he doesn’t even have a car to move around… buys suits from Suit World, suits that don’t need sunlight ,” Gorimbo quipped.
The exchange follows a string of heated public comments between the two, with Gorimbo using both humour and political critique to respond to Israel’s warning.
