Prominent preacher Jay Israel Senior has publicly warned Zimbabwean UFC fighter Themba Gorimbo over what he claims are “vulgar insults” directed at President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the government.
In a strongly worded Facebook post, Jay Israel accused Gorimbo of being “a sellout and a puppet of colonial masters” allegedly bankrolling him to criticise the country’s leadership.
“It is true that I told Themba Gorimbo he will never set foot in Zimbabwe or South Africa as long as he continues his open campaign of vulgar insults against the President of Zimbabwe,” Jay Israel wrote.
“This is not a threat but a stand for the dignity of our Head of State and the lawful order of our nation.”
Gorimbo, who has been outspoken on social media about political and economic challenges in Zimbabwe, has yet to publicly respond.
