UK-based philanthropist and community advocate Comfort Dondo has made an emotional and impactful return to her roots by donating books to Tafara 1 Primary School, where her mother once served as a dedicated educator. The donation, facilitated in partnership with Books For Africa, marks a full-circle moment that celebrates both education and legacy.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Dondo shared the significance of the occasion: “My retired mother one of the best teachers of her time returned to Tafara 1 Primary School… this time, not as a teacher, but as a giver of hope.”

The donation was supported on the ground by the Phumulani team, led by Ruth Dengwani, as part of their ongoing efforts to uplift communities through education and empowerment.

The initiative highlights Dondo’s broader mission to strengthen educational access in Zimbabwe, particularly in communities that shaped her family’s journey. With Tafara 1 holding sentimental value, the gesture was not just philanthropic, but deeply personal.

Quoting Nelson Mandela, Dondo reflected on the moment: “There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.” For her, the visit was a powerful reminder of progress, purpose, and the enduring value of giving back.
