Investigative journalist Blessed Mhlanga has stirred debate online after revealing that he received a surprise call from Geza, the ex-war veteran and outspoken ZANU-PF member who has become a fugitive following his public call for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to step down.
Mhlanga, who was arrested following his controversial interview with Geza, posted that the call came from an “unknown” number.
“He inquired about my health and how I managed through prison,” Mhlanga shared, quoting Geza as saying: “They know where I am, but they won’t come.”
While some expressed concern for Mhlanga’s safety and admired his transparency, others questioned the wisdom of publicly disclosing contact with a wanted figure, especially in Zimbabwe’s highly surveilled and politically sensitive climate.
Critics have asked why Mhlanga would post about the call, potentially complicating his legal position or Geza’s safety.

Geza, once a loyal ZANU-PF figure, shocked many by breaking ranks and accusing top leadership of corruption and betrayal of liberation war ideals.
