Outspoken former legislator Temba Mliswa has taken aim at ZANU PF spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa, accusing him of harboring leadership ambitions while undermining key party figures, including Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and business tycoon Kudakwashe Tagwirei.

In a strongly worded post on X (formerly Twitter), Mliswa alleged that Mutsvangwa’s recent media offensives particularly targeting Tagwirei are part of a calculated campaign to eliminate perceived rivals.

“Mutsvangwa harbours ambitions of being ZANU PF leader and sees both VP Chiwenga and Tagwirei as stumbling blocks to that dream,” Mliswa wrote.
“The spirited press conferences against Tagwirei are an opportune moment for him to decimate the figure of one of his supposed opponents.”

Mliswa further claimed that while others toiled to build international support and withstand political pressures, Mutsvangwa retreated from visibility, abandoning his fellow war veterans during times of adversity.

“When the situation became untenable, he abandoned his fellow War Veterans, who faced harassment,” Mliswa continued.

He contrasted Mutsvangwa’s alleged withdrawal with the resilience of other veterans such as Victor Matemadanda and Douglas Mahiya, who he praised for their consistent advocacy.

“He resurfaced when it was calmer,” Mliswa concluded.

The public statements come at a time when internal tensions within ZANU PF are mounting ahead of the party’s October conference, where debates over succession and party direction are expected to take center stage.
