Nelson Chamisa has expressed deep sorrow following the devastating road traffic accident along Seke Road at Hunyani Bridge, which claimed 17 lives on Monday.
In a heartfelt statement posted on social media, Chamisa said“My heartfelt condolences go out to the families who have lost loved ones, and to the entire nation, now burdened with this painful and traumatic loss… May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may comfort and strength surround every grieving family.”
The accident involved a haulage truck that overturned, crushing a commuter omnibus and killing most of its occupants. Only two survivors were pulled from the wreckage.
Chamisa also acknowledged the efforts of first responders and hospital staff, saying their dedication in such grim circumstances deserves gratitude and recognition.
He concluded by emphasizing the need for safer roads and a compassionate society, adding, “We must continue to work toward safer roads and a more compassionate society where every life is valued and protected.”
