
The 2025 Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival finals at the Mutare Showgrounds were a cultural spectacle to remember, capped off by electrifying performances from musical giants Alick Macheso and Jah Prayzah.
The festival, which celebrates Zimbabwe’s rich traditional dance heritage, saw thousands flock to the Eastern Highlands for a day of dance, music, and celebration. But it was the musical headliners who delivered the ultimate show-stopping moments.
Jah Prayzah took to the stage first, captivating fans with his energetic performance and crowd-favorite hits like “Necessary,” “Chiremererera,” and “Ruzhowa.” His seamless fusion of modern sound with traditional rhythms made the crowd erupt with joy and sing along in unison.
Known for his professionalism and consistency, Jah Prayzah’s ability to thrill whether on an international tour or a local stage was on full display.
Then came Sungura maestro Alick Macheso, who delivered a signature performance brimming with energy, intricate bass lines, and heartfelt showmanship. His set brought a wave of nostalgia and pride, as he reminded fans why he remains one of Zimbabwe’s most treasured performers.
“I enjoy it when people show up in numbers and embrace us,” Macheso said in an interview after his set. “As a band of the people, this means a lot to us. I’m humbled by the love.”
Enzo Ishall also joined the entertainment lineup, bringing his youthful flair and connecting with the younger crowd.
