Award-winning rapper Holy Ten has announced a dramatic personal transformation, declaring himself “born again” and distancing himself from the controversies that have defined much of his career.
In a message posted on Tuesday which also marked his son Mukudzei’s second birthday Holy Ten (real name Mukudzei Chitsama) told fans he had turned over a new leaf and was ready to walk a more disciplined, respectful path.
“No more teenage behaviour, no more anger issues, no more hypocrisy, no more provoking other influencers, no more recklessness… It’s my son’s birthday, this day marks my salvation,”he posted.
The rapper, who rose to prominence through his introspective yet confrontational lyricism, has been a lightning rod for online drama. From taking shots at fellow artists like Winky D, to public rants about the National Arts Merit Awards (NAMAs), and even making controversial statements about his own marriage, Holy Ten has often made headlines for reasons beyond music.
Earlier this year, he lashed out at the NAMAs, accusing organisers of deliberately snubbing him despite what he claimed was a more impactful 2024 than veterans like Jah Prayzah and Winky D.
In a heated Instagram Live rant, he declared, “I did more than Jah, Winky D, Nyasha David, and that other new skinny David… I’m bigger than the NAMAs… I have more money than you [Napoleon], and I’m way better than you.”
He also stirred outrage when he described his marriage to Kimberly Richards as a move intended to spite a fellow rapper.
Despite these controversies, Holy Ten has maintained a strong following, particularly among youth drawn to his lyrical style and emotional vulnerability.
Whether the self-proclaimed reformation signals a permanent change remains to be seen, but the artist appears determined to align his personal conduct with the responsibilities of fatherhood and maturity.
“I’m doing this for my son,” he wrote. “This is the day my soul found peace.”
Fans, critics, and fellow musicians will undoubtedly be watching closely to see if this rebirth marks a lasting chapter or yet another twist in the Holy Ten saga.
