In a dramatic turn of events, the State has dropped espionage charges against media personality Faith Musonda, replacing them with a lesser charge of idle and disorderly conduct.
Musonda was initially accused of espionage, a serious offense that sparked widespread speculation and media coverage. However, during a court session held this week, prosecutors announced they would no longer pursue those charges.
She now stands accused of storming President Hakainde Hichilema’s residence on July 2 in a bid to see the First Lady, Mutinta Hichilema. Details of the incident remain unclear, but authorities say her actions amounted to disruptive and disorderly behavior.

Musonda has not yet entered a plea, and the court is expected to announce her next appearance date soon.
