Former Zimbabwean football star Shingi Kawondera has opened up about a deeply personal betrayal that cost him not only millions but also trust in those he once considered close friends.

In a recent podcast interview, Kawondera revealed that he was the first investor in the late businessman Gnimbi’s gas ventures, helping lay the foundation for what would become a highly lucrative business. However, as the deals began to thrive, Kawondera says he was shockingly cut out of the equation.

He revealed that he went behind his back forged his signature cutting him off from the deal.

The former striker did not mince his words, calling the incident a lesson in misplaced trust.

“I blame myself. I trusted the wrong people,” he admitted.

Kawondera’s revelations have sparked renewed discussion around fake friendships and financial betrayal, especially within the business and sports communities, where partnerships are often built on personal connections rather than contracts.
