Minister and businessman Tino Machakaire has launched a blistering personal attack on former opposition spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere, accusing her of corruption, espionage, and academic fraud in a heated social media post that sparked outrage and debate.

In an unrestrained tirade posted online, Machakaire referred to Mahere as a “Humpty Dumpty Iron Lady” and alleged she was admitted to the University of Zimbabwe’s law program through “corrupt” means, accusing her of damaging the institution’s reputation.

“I am a self-made businessman… the same age you were being corruptly and forcibly foisted into the Faculty of Law at UZ,” he wrote, claiming she had “well-published” academic shortcomings and implying state intelligence links in her international engagements.

He also referenced alleged links to foreign interests, calling her a “Johnny Black” and suggesting she had betrayed national interests though without providing evidence.

Mahere, a constitutional lawyer and former legislator, had not responded to the remarks at the time of publication.
