Business magnate and Sakunda Holdings boss Kudakwashe Tagwirei has made a bold entry into Zanu PF’s inner circle, attending a politburo meeting on Wednesday to present a “resource mobilisation” plan and offering over 300 vehicles to senior party members.
Tagwirei, recently co-opted into Zanu PF’s central committee, is expected to attend his first official committee meeting on Thursday, marking a formal start to his political journey amid speculation he harbours presidential ambitions.
According to insiders, each of the 300 central committee members will receive a Ford off-roader, while politburo members are set to get top of the line Toyota VX 300s.
Tagwirei, who built his wealth largely through opaque state contracts, has not publicly declared interest in succeeding President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the 2027 Zanu PF congress but his high-profile generosity and strategic placements are seen as part of a broader power play.
His growing influence is likely to stir tensions among rival factions, including those aligned with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and party spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa.
