Chatunga Bellarmine Mugabe, the youngest son of the late former president Robert Mugabe, has reportedly been arrested in connection with a violent incident at the family’s Mazowe Farm.
Eyewitnesses saw Chatunga being escorted into holding cells at the Concession Magistrates Court ahead of a court appearance expected to take place shortly. The charges stem from a brutal alleged assault on individuals accused of trespassing on the Mugabe family’s property in Mazowe.
Sources close to the case say the victims sustained serious injuries during the confrontation, prompting an investigation by law enforcement. It remains unclear whether the alleged trespassers were unlawfully on the property or part of a broader land dispute, which has long plagued Zimbabwe’s commercial farming areas.
Chatunga, known for his outspoken personality and social media presence, has largely stayed out of the political spotlight since his father’s death in 2019. But is well known for stirring trouble for himself.
