In a major diplomatic step, the United Kingdom has officially lifted its remaining sanctions on four senior Zimbabwean figures Owen “Mudha” Ncube, Isaac Moyo, Godwin Matanga, and General (Rtd) Anselem Sanyatwe as well as the state-owned entity Zimbabwe Defence Industries (ZDI).
The UK government confirmed the delistings this week, bringing its targeted measures against Zimbabwe to an end.
The announcement aligns with recent moves by other Western powers: the European Union delisted ZDI in February 2025, though it maintained its overall Zimbabwe sanctions framework, while the United States removed several designations in March 2024.
