
Prominent media owner Supa Mandiwanzira, founder of ZiFM, has called for the revenue collected from car radio licence fees to be shared among all broadcasters not just the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).
While car radio licences themselves are not a new concept, what has sparked fresh debate is the government’s recent move to tie ZBC licence compliance to vehicle insurance and licensing.
Under the new requirement, drivers cannot obtain car insurance or a vehicle licence without showing proof of a valid ZBC licence.
