In a sharp letter addressed to government spokesperson Nick Mangwana, Zimbabwean lawyer and activist Fadzayi Mahere has criticized the state broadcaster, ZBC, over its coverage of businessman Wicknell Chivhayo.
Mahere questioned why taxpayers should fund what she described as “vacant” and “pathetic” content that fails to serve the public interest. “Why can’t you get funding from Chivhayo?” she asked pointedly, calling out the close ties between ZBC and the ruling ZANU-PF party.
Highlighting broader concerns of governance and accountability, Mahere’s statement concluded with a rallying cry: “We need new leaders.”
