Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, George Guvamatanga, has assured the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) that the appointment of a substantive Auditor-General and a Board Chairman will be finalized within the next 30 days.
This commitment comes after Guvamatanga appeared before the PAC following two previous absences, which drew concern from committee members.
His no-shows prompted the committee to issue a third summons, emphasizing the urgency of addressing leadership gaps in key oversight institutions.
During his appearance, Guvamatanga acknowledged the critical role of the Auditor-General in promoting accountability and transparency in public finance management.
He attributed the delays in appointments to procedural processes but assured the committee that these would now be expedited.
