Renowned Sungura musician Paradzai Mesi has reportedly relapsed into alcohol abuse, causing a disruption at Somandla Ndebele’s much-anticipated album launch.
Fans and attendees were left disappointed after Mesi, who was expected to perform, was unable to deliver his set due to apparent intoxication.
Paradzai Mesi was visibly intoxicated while on stage, leading to an awkward moment when he deviated from the program. Instead of performing, he made a controversial remark, saying, “Tiri ma celebrity chaiwo kwete Ana kanzoo,” which translates to “We are real celebrities, not just ordinary people.”
A circulating video captures the singer struggling to maintain composure, with his speech incoherent and his performance cut short.
The incident has reignited concerns about Mesi’s ongoing battle with alcohol, which has affected his career in recent years.
