Businessman Moses Mpofu who is already in remand prison for Presidential goat scheme is now facing other allegations along with his wife Nobukhosi and brother Vusimuzi James Mpofu co-directors of Synlak Pvt Ltd.

They were recently brought before court on charges related to the misuse of funds associated with a European Union grant for a biogas project in Harare.

Mpofu ‘s wife and brother  were released on US$800 bail.

The case involves allegations that, following the award of a €350,500 grant for the Mbare biogas initiative, Mpofu and his associates requested phased payments without issuing invoices, despite assurances of financial capacity.

The complainant is the State, with the City of Harare’s Acting Town Clerk Mabhena Moyo representing the authorities.

The proceedings reveal complex dealings surrounding the tender awarded in 2015, with allegations of improper financial requests and potential misappropriation of the grant funds.
