Finance Ministry Permanent Secretary George Guvamatanga failed to appear before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Monday to address concerns over the mismanagement of US$400 million in public funds, as highlighted in the Auditor General’s report.

Despite requesting more time to gather necessary documents, Guvamatanga has been given a final deadline to appear on Friday, 23 May.

The PAC has warned that if he does not attend, a parliamentary summons will be issued. The committee also requires Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube to testify on policy issues related to the findings.
